1. Memorandum of Understanding with Bengal Library Association for Library Data Cloud Server Maintenance and Technical Services

Description : A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed as both Heramba Chandra College and Bengal Library Association agreed upon their mutual benefits for the students, faculty members, support staff in terms of technical support of ILMS, hosting and maintenance of Cloud Server of the Library, using infrastructure college library, financial responsibility, data security etc during next 3 years.

 
 

 

2. Library Class for departmental students mentored by departmental Teachers and the Librarian

Scheduled as per departmental routine ; Place : Central Library

Description : Library classes are being held in the central library for the students of different semesters under the supervision of the teachers and the Librarian as scheduled in the departmental routine. This initiative has been started from the academic session 2022-2023 to promote reading habits among the students. The students are being facilitated cbcs syllabus based books, reference materials for doing project-works etc.

 

3. Student Awareness and Instruction Program on Library Services as a part of Observation of the Students' Week during 02-01-2023 to 07-01-2023

Description : The program has been arranged to promote the current library services for the students of the college. The students have been made aware of library locations, membership process, lending facility, reading facility, searching books through OPAC, resources of the library etc. Librarian has shown how to access the e-books of the library through mobile application. Forty students have participated in this awareness and instruction program.

 

 

4. World Book and Copyright Day Observation along with Publication and Magazine Committee and Internal Quality and Assurance Cell

Date : 03-05-2023 ; Time : 11:00 a.m. to 05:00 p.m. ; Place : Auditorium and allied premises

Description : A one-day program has been held with the initiative of Publication and Magazine Committee, Library and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the College. The program included a book fair, a poster exhibition and an elocution competition in the forenoon session. A quiz session is organized as a part of the program to promote World Book and Copyright Day among the students of the college. The students have interacted with the writer and journalist Mr Caeser Bagchi, the resource person of the program in the afternoon session. One hundred and five participants have been present in the program.

 

 

5. Librarians' Day Observation through organizing one-day program entitled "Library Orientation Program : Developing Information Skill" for the faculty members of Heramba Chandra College in association with Internal Quality and Assurance Cell

Description : Library, Heramba Chandra College in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) has observed the Librarians' Day (12th August) on 18-08-2023 on the occasion of the 131st Birth Anniversary of Dr S R Ranganathan, the Father of Library Science in India. A one-day skill enhancement program for the faculty members of the college entitled "Library Orientation Programme: Developing Information Skill" has been arranged on the said day. A total of thirty five faculty members have actively participated in the program. The program initiated and arranged by the Library has been the pioneering one and very highly accepted by the attendees.

6. Book Fair as a part of Observation of the Students' Week during 02-01-2024 to 08-01-2024

Description : The Library of Heramba Chandra College hosted a vibrant book fair at its Central Library during three days. It was inaugurated by Prof Swapna Banerjee, Professor, Department of Library and Information Science and IQAC Director, University of Calcutta. The students and faculty members of the college and distinguished academic professionals of nearer community actively participated, exploring new titles for personal enrichment and academic pursuits. It served as a platform for intellectual exchange and cultural enrichment, reinforcing Heramba Chandra College's commitment to promoting literacy and academic excellence. The feedback given by the attendees of the fair highly appreciable.

Description : The library has organized this program aimed at familiarizing students with the extensive array of services offered by its library. Participants were informed about the locations of library branches, the straightforward membership process, borrowing privileges, comfortable reading spaces, and the efficient book search system using OPAC. Moreover, the librarian provided a demonstration on accessing e-books via a mobile app. A total of one hundred and sixty nine students actively engaged in this enlightening session focused on enhancing their utilization of the library's resources.

8. Librarians' Day Observation through organizing a program entitled "Library Orientation Program : Accessibility to E-resources through Library Webpages" for the faculty members of Heramba Chandra College in association with Internal Quality and Assurance Cell (IQAC)

Description : On 12th August 2024, the Library of Heramba Chandra College, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organized a special event to commemorate National Librarians' Day on the ocassion of 132nd Birth Anniversary of Padmashri Dr S R Ranganathan, the Father of Library Science in India. The day was marked by a well-planned "Library Orientation Program : Accessing E-Resources through Library Webpages" which aimed to enhance the academic skills of faculty members, especially in the use of e-resources. The program achieved success through active participation of thirty seven faculty members from various departments of the college.
